For me, I blog, I write, I do reviews not only for the Homeschool Review Crew, but for various authors and publishers as well. I also run a successful photography and event planning business. Add to that homeschooling, special needs child care, and managing a home by myself, well..let's just say I'll take all the help I can get.
THIS!! ^^ This right here is EXACTLY how I feel. I feel like a computer that has reached its executive functioning capacity (is that even a thing?!) I'm constantly answering questions, trying to decide when, where, and how to do things. It's overwhelming at times. But Balancing Diapers and Deadlines gives me the tools I need to minimize these. It's a little harder for me because I don't have children I can pass the reigns to, or a husband. But I can at least work on meal plans, and these lessons are great for a single mom.
Another favorite topic of this program is about letting your kids help with your business.
Ok, I admit it. I had a hard time with this. I also admit I'm horrible with marking these complete. I always forget to click that little box, so just overlook me there. I'm a perfectionist by nature, and I like things done in a particular way. But after looking over her suggestions, I thought I'd start including Mr. B more. He now helps me with edits, he monitors uploads for me, starts uploads, and publishes galleries. He also helps around the house more, helps me with keeping track of obligations and schedules, and helps me brainstorm photo ideas. It works great to help him feel included, plus I pay him a little for his help so he can add it to his savings account, and it helps me in the long run, too.
My photography business has suffered this year because I was sick and dealing with a special needs child. I tried to delegate to others, and well...my priorities were not the same as theirs. With Lisa Tanner Writing, I've been able to take back over what I had delegated out, and still keep up with my day to day obligations. No more agonizing over what to have for dinner, only to go buy ingredients and forget one essential. No more choosing laundry over getting that blog post finished. No more arguing with my kid to do his chores (Marbles?! HELLO! He loves the marble jar!) In other words, my life has become less stressful, and I've even found time to use that amazing soaking tub in my master bath!
I have to say, family writing time was a brilliant idea. This has helped me SO much when it comes to getting my blog posts up and going, and getting photos edited. He can do his writing time, and I can do my work time TOGETHER!
Overall, I have found great benefit in this course. It has helped me run a more efficient home, and helped me to focus more on the business side of my life. I've developed strategies that help me to manage my time and skills more effectively, which allows for more downtime-thus more "me time," too. Overall, I highly recommend this to everyone-especially those busy moms who find themselves saying, "I just don't have enough time!"
