DAY 8 Recipe

My Momma's Brown Sugar and Ground Beef Baked Beans

So today is Day 8 of the Blogging challenger. I will have to edit in a photo when I take one of my own, but here is a recipe for the BEST Baked beans EVER! My fiance HATES baked beans, but he will beg for these! EVERYONE who tries them loves them! Please note: this photo is from a google search. I will try to fix these this weekend and put a photo in of them. They are AWESOME!

1 pound of ground sirloin (or ground beef of your choice)
1C+  brown sugar
2 tablespoon ketchup
1-2tsp onion powder OR 1small diced onion
1 LARGE can of pork and beans

Brown and drain beef and place into a casserole dish, mix in the beans, brown sugar (at least 1 cup, I personally use half of a small box of Domino Brown Sugar) onion (I use onion powder, but you can use a small diced up onion) and 2 swirls of ketchup. Stir it all up, cover and bake at 400 for about 50 mins. Remove cover and bake an additional 10-15 minutes. Then enjoy! These are the BEST!

  1. Half a box! I add a few spoonfuls of brown sugar when I make chilli, and it does enhance the flavor.

    1. HAHA! It is a LOT of sugar, but these are the BEST baked beans. The onion offsets the sugar, and the beef helps too, so they are not overly sweet as you might think. Even my super picky son will eat them!
